Alexander started fencing in 2005 and began fencing competitively in 2006. He now fences all three weapons and has medaled in Foil and Sabre. He fences nearly all Divisional Tournaments and many National Tournaments as well, including the 2006-2007 Junior Olympics.
In 2007, at the age of fifteen, Alex graduated from the USFA Coaches College at the US Olympic Training Center and now coaches Foil at the Denver Fencing Center. He is currently the second youngest USFA certified fencing coach in the nation.
He has also taught Foil at Buckley Air Force Base and at the Ricks Center at the University of Denver. In addition to coaching Youth Foil and Epee classes and beginner camps at DFC, Alex provided the on-strip coaching to Y10 Epee Gold Medalist in the North American Cup in Tucson, Arizona in April 2007.
At the 'E' and Under tournament on January 18, 2008, Alex won the tournament and earned his 'D' rating. In the fall of 2008, he finished 3rd at the Nick Toth tournament at the Air Force Academy and earned a 'C' rating.
